Back in my high school days I fell victim to The Arcade Fire hysteria that was sweeping the underground. For those of you who don’t remember this you came to late or too early to really appreciate what was so great and new about them. I feel that the EP I hold in my hands by Dead Heart Bloom entitled Fall In is just as good if not better then the first time I heard Neighborhood.

Five pounding tracks that lead you up and down like a roller coaster Dead Heart Bloom are a special breed and deserve a little bit of recognition for their stupendous sound. But for all the similarities there’s differences and lots of them. Is This The Way? the first track takes full advantage of the massive sound they can muster. Come Back the second track on the EP has such a perfect sound and tempo with great use of the bands talent it’s hard not to listen five or six times before you even get to Nothing Will Break Me Now which hits just as hard, what is this band on? Indie-roids I’m assuming.

Our Last Martyr is the only slip up if you can call it that on this EP not as great as the other four songs but has it’s moments. Here We Are the final track from the first EP (it’s a set of three) is a perfect ending with a sound that almost mimics Pink Floyd so much that when I played it for my Dad over the phone he asked “when the hell did you start listening to Pink Floyd?” Never Dad, never, that’s just Dead Heart Bloom and they rock.

I give it a 8.7/10
