New MP3: I Know I See I Love I Go
MP3: Let Them Dance

Only in existence since March of 2008, Echo Park’s Rainbow Arabia is a viable contender for breakout band of 2009 with so much accomplished in just a matter of months. Rainbow Arabia, consists of couple Danny & Tiffany Preston who have married American experimental dance music with a heavy dose of Middle Eastern influence. With growling synthesizers, Arabic guitar riffing, a mixture of drum machines and live percussion, and Tiffany’s strangely palatable call-to-war vocals, Rainbow Arabia fuses the dancable sounds of electro and world music with the youthful energy of punk.

Recently they released the acclaimed, much-talked about The Basta EP; attracted the attention of UK’s Merok Records (The Teenagers, Crystal Castles) who will be releasing it overseas; shared the stage with acts such as These Are Powers, Megapuss, Hecuba, Warpaint, Ariel Pink, and many more; and are gearing up to tour the U.S. with LA via Brooklyn peers Gangi, as well as with The Social Registry’s Gang Gang Dance and Growing.

Currently, they are recording their first full-length for Manimal Vinyl which is due early 2009.

“Rainbow Arabia are out for your hips, and this first effort is strangely propulsive…what really sticks out are the serpentine guitar lines that slither their way through the EP, sometimes taking on the shape of post-punk spikes, garage crunch, and Edge-like delay effects. That sort of guitar eclecticism is mirrored in turn by Tiffany Preston, whose yips, yaps, and prairie crows work well in the Rainbow Arabia’s efforts to transport as much as immerse.”

“Creating the kind of noise you could imagine the DFA might make had they ever decided to throw a party in the underground ruins of Egypt, the ghosts of the Pyramids shaken into action by the sinuous rhythms and earth quaking basslines. hey may very well be some of our newest favourite people”
-20 Jazz Funk Greats

“Rainbow Arabia tread curiously close to the sounds of hip-hop acts like M.I.A. and Santogold. But with freewheelin’ ideals, punk urgency, and Middle Eastern-inspired instrumentation, Rainbow Arabia manage to find a tone all their own”
