This is hardcore music that really isn’t innovative in any sense. Just imagine some typical guitars and screaming and you have a good idea of what A.18 sounds like. However, there are some times when they transcend the typical hardcore sound and drive themselves into the bowels of hard-rocking groove music, such as in “This Year’s Enemy”. These times are few and far between, and one is stuck listening to the same riffs and style in lyrics over and over. There are so many other hardcore bands that have brought innovation to the genre, and A.18 is not one of these acts. In fact, here’s an idea if you get this CD : fast forward to the last twenty seconds of each track, and you’ll be rewarded.
