Heidi Newfield’s latest single, “Cry Cry (‘Til The Sun Shines)” goes for adds at Country Radio today. It is the second single from her debut solo album, What Am I Waiting For, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and was named a People Magazine and New York Times critic’s choice. “Cry Cry” was written by Hillary Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsey, and Marv Green, and is already a hit with Music Row’s Robert K. Oermann, who wrote, “I dig this gal’s vocal personality. This toe-tapper has an empowerment, feel-good lyric that’s just right for our troubled times.”

“Cry Cry” is the follow-up to Newfield’s smash solo debut single, “Johnny and June,” which achieved Top 10 status and established Newfield among the highest ranks of female Country artists; along with Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, Newfield is one of only four solo women in Country to have a Top 10 single in 2008. She also the first female to score a Top 10 hit with her debut single since Taylor Swift went to No. 5 with “Tim McGraw” in late 2006-early 2007, according to Country Aircheck.

Newfield has just been announced to present an award on-air at the “42nd Annual CMA Awards” on Wednesday, Nov. 12, as well as to co-present the CMA Broadcast Awards alongside Premiere Radio’s Blair Garner during the pre-Telecast ceremonies. She will also perform at the 2008 Chevy CMA Awards Kickoff Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in downtown Nashville. Also look for Heidi to be featured in the upcoming People Country issue on stands Friday, Nov. 7 as well as the Nov. 24 issue of First, on stands now.
