Wonkavision is always a magazine that is well worth the $2.95 cover price of an issue. This issue has a lot of contentious material in it, especially in the top 5 albums of the year feature. I still do not understand why everyone liked the newest Propagandi album; it was probably their weakest effort. This is the same case with another album that featured prominently, Against Me’s latest album. Therea re a few really solid pieces this issue, the gist of which shows a move towards the DIY culture by Wonkavision. The lynchpin of the zine for me is the piece about the border patrols between Canada and the United States. The average band would not be aware that one needs a work permit to enter the United States from Canada, or that it is a lot easier to get across the border when everything (papers) are in order and everything is declared. The feature piece of this issue is “Mixtape: An Introductionâ€, which just pales in comparison to the extensive coverage that Wonkavision gives to the untangling of the media giant that is Clearchannel. This is done by showing the history of the organization, the future of the organization, and what intrepid individuals are doing to stop the encroachment of this media behemoth. As always, the reviews are detailed and cover a range of different styles, and individuals will take hours casually reading all of the material that is present in this zine.
