This is a short zine that only modifies already existing Peanuts strips to make a funny, albeit unrealistic story. The stories are incredibly puerile and funny, and I only which Charles Schultz would have taken his cartoon in a way more consistent with this zine. I know that he probably loved the fact that his comic was for the whole family, but I always found it really annoying, if not tiresome. Dr. Casey Finnegan, the editor of this zine, really breathes live into a cartoon that was stale in the 70’s, forget the early years of this millennium. The only thing bad about this parody zine is the fact that I cannot find any contact information for the man, or if he had made any other issues of this magazine. Still, if people want copies of the magazine, I would suggest to go and e-mail me and I will make copies of this zine. This zine is not for the easily offended, so if you consider yourself to be one of these people, make sure to stay away from this zine. Otherwise, feel free to pick this up, as it truly is a hoot.

  1. Because you’re looking for the wrong guy. Rumour has it, and I stress rumour, that this was a joint effort by Seth, Chester Brown and a few other Indie Comics guys. While I can’t confirm this, every one I mention this book to has heard the same thing.

It’s certainly a romp. So much so that I flattered it with the sincerest form of imitation a while back. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina hit and I lost track of the files but I know they’re here somewhere. If I find them I’ll try to send you a set.

  2. Oops, almost forgot… Casey and Finnegan were puppets on a Canadian Mr Rogers-style kids show called Mr Dress-Up hosted by Ernie Coombs. It’s my conjecture that the puppets are the basis for the good Dr Finnegan’s name. The fact that Mr Dress-Up was a Canadian show lends support to the Seth/Chet Brown rumour, IMHO, as both artists are Canadian.

  3. Sorry, me again. Joe Matt is the other rumoured artist whom i couldn’t remember that is associated with YSB&UCB. The most common production date I can find for it is 1991 but I have seen references which date it as a 1996 effort. I think I came across my copy in ’96 or’97 and I remember being told it had been around a while before that so ’91 is probably accurate.
