Fern Knight, one of the foremost of Philadelphia’s internationally renowned community of top avant folk outfits is recording a new eight song project at home in Fishtown for mid-2009, vinyl-only release on VHF.

A lot of the songs are inspired by the Tarot…five were written this past Fall – “From Zero…”, “The Eye of the Queen”, “Pentacles”, “The Poisoner” and “Cups and Wands”, one was written just before the Sept ’07 (just prior to wedding of band mainstays Margie Weink and Jim Ayer). There’ll also be an instrumental yet to be written called “Cave of Swords” to be the start of side B. The release will also include their version of King Crimson’s “Epitaph.”

The band finished 2008 with a European tour and I’m including a link to their radio appearance in Madrid:

[set list here was: Silver Fox, Sundew, Pentacles, From Zero to Infinity, Loch Na Fooey]
