On February 3, 2009 Concord Records will release Send One Your Love, a 10-track album of seductive love songs from sax icon Boney James. The album, whose sound creates the ultimate “musical valentine”, will be released just in time for February 14th.

Send One Your Love includes new James original songs as well as covers from Stevie Wonder, Barry White, The Stylistics and more. The album follows his Concord debut – Shine – which received rave reviews from the press and landed him at #1 on the Contemporary Jazz charts and #6 on the R&B charts.

Send One Your Love features a collection of romantic and sensuous songs by Stevie Wonder (the title track), The Stylistics (“Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart),” Barry White (“I’m Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby”), John Klemmer (“Touch”) and a stunning cover of James Taylor’s “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight.” On this track, Boney introduces the world to Quinn. This new R&B vocalist who has performed background vocals for artists such as Kelly Price and K-Ci & JoJo and was working as an Atlanta-based session singer when discovered by James. Comments Boney: “When recording the album I started asking friends if they knew a young singer who should be a star.” “I got Quinn’s MP3 in an e-mail. The next day I flew him to L.A. and cut the track in two takes!” Send One Your Love also showcases four new James compositions, highlighted by the evocative tune “City Light,” co-written by keyboardist Tim Carmon, (known for his work with Eric Clapton).

James plays tenor, alto and soprano saxophones on Send One Your Love. “Choosing the saxophone for each song is kind of like casting for a movie.” he says, “Some songs just feel right on one horn.” He also opts for a full string section on four cuts in lieu of synthesized orchestration. “I love the sound of live strings,” James says, “it definitely plays up the romance!”

Boney James has sold millions of albums, headlined sold-out tours, been awarded four Gold Album certifications, a Soul Train Award, has received two Grammy Award nominations and one NAACP Image Award nomination. James is married to actress and filmmaker Lily Mariye who portrays nurse Lily Jarvik on the NBC drama ER.
