Henry Poole is Here is a film that discusses the moving-in of a neighbor (Luke Wilson) after getting some morbid news from eir doctor. Instead of being seen as a charity case or someone to pity, Henry Poole looks to do nothing but spend eir remaining time trying to be left alone. Moving to the suburb seems to be the perfect way to go and do that, bringing Poole into contact with a number of interesting characters (an ensemble cast is present including George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, and Radha Mitchell).

Ultimately, what results with Henry Poole is nothing short of a miracle, but going into detail about what that ultimately entails would seriously decrease the amount of excitement and wonder that one can draw from the film, should they choose to purchase it. Beyond the film itself, Anchor Bay and Overture have placed here a number of solid featurettes and bonus features that will increase the enjoyment that one can draw from the film. This means that a tremendous amount of context is provided when Albert Torres (writer) and director Mark Pellington sit down and do the commentary for the film, while the “All Roads Lead Home” music video goes and makes the actions that take place in the film all the more special.

However, for my money, the best featurette / bonus that is present on this presentation would have to be “The Making of Henry Poole Is Here”, which goes in to the film with a complete different viewpoint than individuals that have watched the movie will have. I actually went back and watched the film again after watching this featurette, and there were quite a few things that became apparent to me that I had not noticed in the slightest the first time out. If you want to see a touching, amazing experience of a film, purchase Henry Poole is Here and see exactly what I’ve been on about these last four hundred words.
