Kevin May and Mick Lynch, principles of The Guggenheim Grotto, will pack their bags and embark on a U.S. odyssey to support their sophomore release Happy The Man, which was available January 27, 2009 on new model indie label United For Opportunity.

The group first danced into the U.S. in 2006 to support their debut, Waltzing Alone that captivated audiences as well as tastemakers at WXPN in Philadelphia, XM Radio’s “The Loft” and KCRW in Los Angeles. The opening track “Philosophia” earned the top spot on the iTunes Folk Chart in April 2007 and was chosen as iTunes Free Single of the Week.

Happy The Man has found its champions including Jason Killingsworth at Paste Magazine: “The Guggenheim Grotto’s debut, Waltzing Alone, established the trio’s reputation as a mostly acoustic folk-pop outfit with staying power. Sophomore effort Happy The Man delivers the same heady lyrics and adroit melodic sensibility… leaving your expectations of these talented singer/songwriters in the dust miles below.”

For the tour, the group is traveling sparingly and economically. The boys will bring guitars and ambition, rely on the generosity of friends and fans for hospitality and mass transit for a majority of travel. This grassroots approach speaks to the heart of what the Guggenheim Grotto is about: spreading their music throughout the U.S one person, venue and sofa at a time.

Happy The Man was released digitally as an iTunes exclusive in October 2008, and reached No. 1 on the iTunes Folk Chart.

The Guggenheim Grotto will perform the following dates.

February 3 VIENNA, VA Jammin Java
February 4 PITTSBURGH, PA The Thunderbird Café
February 5 ANN ARBOR, MI The Ark
