Pulverised Records is proud to announce the signing of legendary Israeli extreme metallers SALEM. Formed in 1985, SALEM achieved international success via a respectable discography of demos and full-lengths, including 1998’s Colin Richardson-produced A Moment Of Silence. More recently, the band made an appearance at 2007’s prestigious Hellfest Festival alongside the likes of Machine Head, Slayer, Blind Guardian, Within Temptation etc. and released their first DVD last year [Salem’s Underground] via Season Of Mist.

Titled Playing God And Other Short Stories, SALEM’s upcoming Pulverised offering will mark their seventh full-length overall. Commented the band of their new label home: “We are thrilled to join the Pulverised team. The label is very attentive to our needs and puts us as a top priority act. It is something we’ve been yearning for years. We feel confident that together we can achieve goals that have alluded us in the past few years.”

Added Pulverised A&R Manager Calvin Chiang: “Personally, I’ve been a SALEM fan for a good number of years and this is definitely a dream come true, to be able to work hand-in-hand with one of my favorite bands. The SALEM guys are all about pure dedication and are very meticulous and professional in every aspect. We are very anxious to see what new grounds SALEM will break with this new album!”

SALEM’s new promo photos, where the band can be seen sporting a variety of superhero t-shirts, coincide with the record’s theme. Elaborated drummer Nir Nakav: “The opening track on the new album, ‘Drums Of The Dead,’ was inspired by a Hellboy graphic story of the same name. It’s the first time that Abe Sapien goes on a solo mission and in the promo picture I’m wearing a shirt that carries the insignia of his bureau. Remaining true to form, the other guys in the band took on characters who ‘Play God’ — Superman with his ability to reverse time (that is why he can be seen in three different places at the same time on the promo shot) and the Punisher who kills evildoers. As the band lyricist, I feel obligated to add that this album will mark the first time in the band’s history that we are not touching on political subjects. The album texts are all inspired by either stories I’ve read or movies I’ve watched over the past couple of years. After a quarter of century, it’s important for a band to keep moving forward… I believe that once the album is out, the world will witness a tighter-than-ever band with a new twist.”
