After 21 globe trotting seasons, the show that started the reality genre is finally putting down stakes in the Big Apple’s “realest” borough with the January 7 premiere of Real World: Brooklyn.

To give the cast of eight wannabe Brooklynites an across-the-board primer on true BK flavor, MTV turned to none other than the legendary Bay Ridge punk/hip-hop pioneers, The Lordz.

The Lordz, Mike 0Mr. Kaves” McLeer and his brother/partner-in-crime Adam “ADM”, have been on the scene since the dawn of B-boy culture, when they fell under the spell of hip hop – the sound as well as the bold street art and dance – while their neighbors were still lock-step with Saturday Night Fever. The Bay Ridge-based brothers forged the punk/hip-hop hybrid with their 1995 debut release, “All in the Family.” Since that time, they have continued to gain critical acclaim and kudos, from both rock and rap superstar camps, with their continued recordings, appearances on international tours like the Van’s Warped Tour, perfo rmances on national TV shows like Late Night with Conan O’Brien as well as the busy music production and fine art careers of ADM and Kaves respectively. Their intriguing work and life story was the subject of documentary television series, “The Brooklyn Way,” which aired on the Fuse network in 2007.

With The Lordz of course, it ultimately comes down to the music. MTV is capturing the grit and energy of the borough by featuring two new songs by The Lordz in the series, “The Brooklyn Way” and “Alright. ” The Lordz also create d the title track for the series.

The Real World loft showcases more of the BK vibe with four graffiti-themed figurative paintings by the multi-talented Mr. Kaves. The Lordz also help introduce the cast to the real Brooklyn. During the shooting, the Real World cast members enjoyed a h igh-energy live performance by The Lordz taped at Public Assembly, then explored Brooklyn institutions including L&B Spumoni Gardens Restaurant in Bensonhurst and Kaves’ store, “Made In Brooklyn.”

Made in Brooklyn store opened its doors only a few months ago in The Lordz’s hometown of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Kaves partnered up with Big DS from the original Brooklyn House and wife Donna to create an authentic old school Brooklyn storefront selling original artwork, Brooklyn apparel and tattoos. Make sure you stop by to get your recently released limited edition Lordz of Brooklyn Fidora available in the store or online at madeinbrooklynstore.com. Also available are the 20 Mr Kaves paintings featured in Real World: Brooklyn.
