One of today’s most engaging and popular comedic performers, Wanda Sykes returns to HBO® for her second solo special Wanda Sykes: I’ma Be Me. Known for her smart, outspoken, and direct delivery, Sykes is shown performing material from her recent I’ma Be Me national stand-up tour. The DVD feature presentation from HBO Home Entertainment will hit stores on February 2, 2010.

Called “wickedly funny” by USA Today, Sykes gives an infectiously liberating performance in Wanda Sykes: I’ma Be Me, taped at the Warner Theater in her hometown of Washington, D.C. Addressing such topics as having a new “cool” black president, the “real” Michelle Obama, coming out, becoming a new mom, her first bikini wax, how tough it is to keep in shape as you get older, healthcare town-halls, and working as an entertainer on a gay cruise, Sykes is at the top of her form.

An actress/comedian/writer and producer, Sykes’s career has been on overdrive with a number of high profile engagements. Currently a cast member of The New Adventures of Old Christine on CBS, Sykes recently premiered her late-night series The Wanda Sykes Show on Fox. She also made history earlier in 2009 by becoming the first African-American woman and openly gay person ever to host and perform at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

A mainstay and favorite of HBO for many years, Sykes was one of the writers on The Chris Rock Show; won accolades for her humorous commentaries on Inside the NFL; made frequent guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm; and starred in her first solo comedy special, Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired, in 2006. Her film credits include Evan Almighty, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Barnyard, Over the Hedge, Monster-In-Law, Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps, Down to Earth and Pootie Tang. Sykes also starred in and produced the series Wanda at Large and Wanda Does It. Her first book, Yeah, I Said It, was published in 2004.
