Honestly, this is the first time that I’ve ever been lucky enough to hear Atom and his Package, although he has came highly recommended for the last 4 or 5 years. With this album, Atom’s newest, pop just flows out of the radio, at times sounding like Weird Al, other times They Might Be Giants, and about 50 different synthesizer groups that I neither have the time nor the space to fully mention. Pretty much what I am trying to say is that Atom and his Package is so spastic that they will go through 5 or 6 different forms of music in each song, and there are 13 different tracks on this disc. Just as with many of the Hopeless releases, the CD is much too short in duration but chalk-full of tracks that just make the disc memorable. What makes the disc the most impressive to me is the track “I’m Downright Amazed At What I Can Destroy With Just A Hammer”, as the driving beat of the song is virtually a copy of Men Without Hats’ “Pop Goes the World”, but the song is just so much different than the original. If you haven’t heard of Atom and his Package, you are really hiding out under a rock, and that just simply won’t do, as he is the Kraftwerk, the Beck of this new Millennium. Go pretty much anywhere and pick up this album from your favorite music store.
