CORMORANT bassist/vocalist Arthur von Nagel checked in this weekend with a quick update from the studio. The band has decided to enlist Justin Weis at Trakworx Studios (who has worked with Hammers of Misfortune, Ludicra, Slough Feg, and hundreds of others) to mix their upcoming full-length.

According to von Nagel, “The analog equipment, affordability and Slough Feg/Hammers of Misfortune/Ludicra/Sleepytime Gorilla Museum resume were pretty hard to resist! Plus, we like that he’s done hip-hop albums, because those have to sound perfect in terms of production. Our drummer’s big into rap, and his eyes bugged out at some of the artists that Justin has worked with. Anything Slough Feg-related is enough for me!”

CORMORANT are currently finishing up the recording of their as-yet-untitled debut with Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Melvins, Sleep, Primordial) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA. The band is aiming for an early-to-mid Spring release, and are currently searching for a label.
