Fox is one of the few companies that is currently producing Blu-Ray discs that really know how to push the disc to its limits. Take for example, the recently-released unrated version of Max Payne. Aside from having both the theatrical and unrated versions of the films present, Fox has filled this Blu-Ray release to the brim with additional features. This two-disc special edition is the end-all, be-all for anyone that liked Max Payne, whether in video game or movie format.

To bridge the space between the actions that took place in the aforementioned video game and the film, Fox has commissioned a special graphic novel that is present here Furthermore, Fox has ensured that viewers of all ethnicities and backgrounds can properly enjoy the film. This is due to the fact that there are subtitles in French, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese present. The second disc also ensures that individuals that want to take a copy of the film with them (either for their Zune, iPod, or other digital convenience) will be well cared for: the digital copy of the film is as crisp, both in terms of video and audio) as all get out. The audio commentary by all bigwigs associated with the film, be they Everett Burrell (in charge of visual effects), John Moore (director) and Daniel Dorrance (production) gives a great deal of context for the motivation of all actors, scenery choices, and atmosphere associated with the film.

Also present in terms of featurettes are a behind the scenes documentary about the creation of Max Payne and another related featurette that continues to look behind the eyes of the director. By putting so many features into one Blu-Ray presentation and putting it at a normal Blu-Ray price point, Fox has done their job in trying to get individuals interested in the new format. Furthermore, in this recession, they have given viewers a tremendous bang for their buck. If you have a Blu-Ray player (either a PS3 or standalone unit), I would have to point towards Max Payne as your next buy. It is as simple as that.
