The Alternate Routes return with their rock and roll grit, ghostly balladry and seasoned guitar rock anthems on their new sophomore CD, A Sucker’s Dream, on February 24th. Loosely based around a handful of themes-fortifying faith through adversity, holding onto hope as the dark horse-A Sucker’s Dream builds on the gorgeous, melodic compositional work of the band’s earlier works by adding decibels, power, vision and substantive ornamentation.

Produced and mixed by Jay Joyce (John Hiatt, Patty Griffin), the Nashville guru behind the band’s debut, the recording showcases the carefully wrought emotional weight that has morphed the band into a robust touring beast with a sturdy backbone of fan support and an impressive repertoire of crowd-pleasing songs.

Tracks such as “Just A Dream,” “The Future’s Nothing New” (the evocative first single with a Latin flair), and “Never Gonna Be Rich” prove that The Alternate Routes – Tim Warren (vocals/guitar), Eric Donnelly (guitar), Chip Johnson (bass) and Mike Sembos (guitar) – could sing about the harsh realities of life without actually giving in to them.

The band first came to national prominence with the release of their stunning debut, Good and Reckless and True, which was welcomed with acclaim by fans and critics alike. Earlier this year, they released a five-song EP, The Watershed that once again highlighted the band’s incredible range.

Their songs have been heard on such shows as Lifetime’s Army Wives, ABC’s October Road, CBS’s The EX List, MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills and on the Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj soundtrack. The Alternate Routes have also been featured artists on MySpace.com.
