Some say there’s a disco revival in the air, about to sweep aside the current “stop n’ start” sounds of the indie electro scene and shower the nightlife, once again with the shimmering of a disco ball and the sexy synths and driving beats of a not so forgotten genre.

Then again, some say it never left and thanks to a respectable collective of artists and tastemakers in New York City, they are leading the sounds of Disco (or nu Disco?) back to its rightful home; both on the dancefloor and in your playlists… The Golden Filter are very much part of this movement and you’ll certainly be hearing a lot more of these guys throughout 2009 and beyond. Mysticism, romance and sex, accompanied with the sounds of seductive analogue synths; all crucial elements that make The Golden Filter what they are and what we love so very much about them. With influences such as Soft Cell and The Human League, Moroder and Kraftwerk, this is a band bringing back adventure, escapism and imagination back to pop music in the USA.

The Golden Filter met within a buzzing New York art collective where they were surrounded by artists, vintage clothes dealers, musicians and their first love, photography. Out of this creative whirlwind The Golden Filter emerged, and ‘Solid Gold’ is their opening statement of intent. The Golden Filter are the leading lights in the re-emergence of disco, and the throwback to late 70s New York hedonism.

With it’s glowing production and haunting vocal, ‘Solid Gold’ will take you to another dimension. Powered by an incredible, propulsive disco bassline which drives the track forward, ‘Solid Gold’ has already gained incredible word of mouth support online, with the likes of Popjustice, BigStereo and Discodust all declaring one of the most exciting records to emerge for months. Add to this the support of Cut Copy, A Trak and more, and you have one of the hottest new bands around.

Solid Gold is now set to get its debut UK single release on Dummy Records.

After completing a string of debut live shows across the UK with Hercules And Love Affair and Late Of The Pier, The Golden Filter have also been working hard remixing a slew of high profile artists, most recently Peter, Bjorn and Johns ‘Lay It Down’ which was premiered on Pitchfork this week. Stay tuned for more upcoming and exciting remixes to come

Come see The Golden Filter when they embark on a North American Tour this Spring with The Presets or if you cant wait that long, their upcoming NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge, 30th January, should not be missed!
