In early 2009, Bisc1, emcee, graphic designer, and graffiti artist, released The Strange Love Project, the reinterpretation of his 2008 album When Electric Night Falls by 10 producers and 20 visual artists. Taking it one step further, Bisc1 now brings you The Strange Love Project’s first video, “Strange Love.” To shoot the video, Bisc1 joined forces with Carl Weston, the legendary, original producer of graffiti videos since the late 1980’s, and graffiti documentarian through his production company Video Graf Productions. Weston, whose cult-classic videos were an original inspiration on Bisc’s own graffiti, does masterful work directing and producing this video for the “The Strange Love,” bringing Bisc’s words to life with stunning nighttime visuals and shots of Bisc1 getting busy. Protected by the darkness of abandoned streets and alleyways of lower Manhattan, Bisc and Carl bring to life the look and feel of a graffiti addiction.

About Bisc1’s Strange Love Collection:

As a artist / designer / musician, I was curious to see how the world around me would interpret my strange relations. So with the help of 10+ producers and 20+ artist I have put together an extensive collection of audio and visual interpretations. Starting with a record I released in early 2008 When Electric Night Falls and ending here, with The Strange Love Project

The Background:

A native of Massachusetts by way of Connecticut, Bisc1 moved to NYC 10 years ago and quickly made a name for himself DJ’ing at clubs, distributing mixtapes, and in creative circles. Soon, Bisc1 picked up the mic and won several battle raps including the Whose Line Is It monthly at the Knitting Factory in NYC 4 consecutive months in a row. His debut release, The Basics EP (2006), gained the favorable attention of music critics and his subsequent release, The Stay Up Project mixtape (2007) was downloaded over 5000 times. Bisc’s penchant for capturing our chaotic reality with his narratives, images, and collaborations has earned him a reputation as one of the most honest and creative artists of today. Going beyond music, Bisc1 is also an accomplished graphic artist. He’s done cover art, designed promotional materials and spearheaded art direction for artists such as Aesop Rock, The Perceptionists, C-Rayz-Walz, Murs, El-P, and others. His art has been featured in several magazines and art house coffee table books and in galleries, such as Danny Simmon’s Rush Arts Gallery. 2008 was a big year for Bisc. He released the critically acclaimed album When Electric Night Falls, toured the US, and performed at CMJ, SXSW, Scribble Jam, and NXNE. When Electric Night Falls, for which Bisc did all the art direction, is available in stores and online everywhere now via Embedded Music.
