The original F.E.A.R. title was one of the best-selling titles when it originally came out, with reviews of the titles being pretty much uniformly positive. Thus, it is not a stretch to say that Warner Brothers and all related companies had some large shoes to fill with the second title in the series. For those that do not know, the title itself is a first-person shooter, and was released for the PS3, the PC, and the Xbox 360. Where the title itself carries over a number of the distinct things that made F.E.A.R. such a memorable title, the additions to the game play for F.E.A.R. 2 have to be some of the most enveloping and interesting adds ever: the AI seems to be working at a mental level equivalent to the players, while the ability for players to go and move objects into a line of fire for defense showcases a realism that is simply not present in many games.

The additional polish and shine present on the graphics for F.E.A.R. 2 places it on the bleeding-edge, bringing what individuals should expect from a Playstation 3 game even up higher. The shadowing and realistic physics present in the title showcases a benchmark that all titles worth their salt should strive to in the next few years, without letting the story-line or the ambience created in the title fall by the wayside. The storyline is similarly intense; by changing the viewpoint which players are working under, a different interpretation of the events that occurred during the original F.E.A.R. title begins to be shown.

There are a number of different first-person shooters that are on the market at any one point, but F.E.A.R. 2 is the game that should stick in players’ Playstation 3s (or PCs / Xbox 360s) for months to come, until that point when players are given the chance to purchase the next installment of the F.E.A.R. franchise.
