Farewell Good Night’s Sleep is a Liam Watson-produced beauty that finds her luxuriating in the cool, ghostly cadences of 10 original songs and a Lefty Frizzel cover.”

New York, NY (March 9, 2009) – LAY LOW, the alter ego of Icelandic singer/songwriter Lovisa Elisabet Sigrunardottir, has signed with Nettwerk Music Group to release her North American debut FAREWELL GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP on May 26; the first single from the album, By and By,” will be released digitally on March 24. Lovisa, who Lucinda Williams has talked up as one of the best new artists she has seen in years, combines elements of blues, folk and country and twists them into a fascinating new shape.

Recorded and produced in London by Liam Watson (White Stripes, Pete Molinari, Holly Golightly) in his famed Toe Rag Studios, Farewell Good Night’s Sleep is a superlative sophomore album (her debut, Please Don’t Hate Me, was an award-winning album in Iceland in 2006) that reinvents the country music wheel for a modern audience. The album features high caliber musicians such as Carwyn Ellis, Ed Turner, Rupert Brown, Matt Radford, Jason Wilson and BJ Cole.

Lay Low has garnered some early US attention from iTunes (tipping her as one of the best discoveries of 2008) and influential LA radio station KCRW. She has been invited to perform on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic when she is in Los Angeles next month, following her tour dates with Emiliana Torrini (dates below).

Additionally, following the impressive release of her Platinum-selling Icelandic debut Please Don’t Hate Me, Lovisa took on the role of music director for the Pulitzer Prize play How I Learned To Drive in Iceland, for which she not only wrote the music but also performed on-stage to sell out crowds and rave reviews. The music from the play was released early last year and sold over 5,000 copies; she was nominated for and won an Icelandic Theatre Award.

Stay tuned for more information on Lay Low.
