Singer Songwriter Beckwith releases his debut single, ‘You’re That Kind Of Girl’ with a nod to the glory days of 90’s R&B.

Growing up an a healthy dose of new jack swing and R&B acts including New Edition, Silk, Intro, Shai, Tevin Campbell, Anthony David and Portrait, Beckwith, aka Jon Paul Walton made a promise as a 15 year old that he would be writing an R&B album. “From watching New Edition as a really young child, I wanted to be exactly like Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown” says Beckwith.

To date he has been working on a new album and his dream is being realised. Writing the album himself with musical partner Marvin ‘Marvelous’ Ambrosius, who wrote for the last NAS and Game album, expect the album to be completely catchy and hook laden.

The new single ‘You’re That Kind Of Girl’ was co-written with French producer Claps [Leona Lewis ‘Here I Am’ & Anthony Hamilton ‘She’s Gone’] and unlike so much R&B out today, is a clean and catchy, dreamy R&B track and a reflection of his 90’s R&B influences.

B Side ‘Rain’, reveals Beckwith’s own take on an evolved 90’s R&B style. The sexy smooth love song is already an underground cult hit and has been waiting for an official release.

Beckwith has already worked with Burbree (Fundamental), Laurence Woo Allen (Mr Cheeks), Matt McCarrin (Patti Labelle) and Serengeti Productions (Mitchell Brothers) and his debut album will be out next year. He will also be performing live see website for more details.

So with his new single ready to go and an album in the pipeline, what’s his plan of action? “My pops says that bands in the 60’s used to say ‘Give it to em’ before they went on the stage. I use that as a motto”. Beckwith.

The single package will be available for download from all major digital outlets.
