Black Eyed Dog is the music alias of Fabio Parrinello, a 30 year old singer-songwriter who was born in Varese, northern Italy, travelled around the globe and now lives in Palermo, Sicily.

Black Eyed Dog’s second album Rhaianuledada (Songs To Sissy), to be released April 2009, is a major leap forward musically, in a progression that is surprising and unique. Whereas his debut album Love Is A Dog From Hell was a sparse and stripped-down album, which allowed plenty of space for Parrinello to show off what fantastic condition his voice is in, Rhaianuledada (Songs To Sissy) sees Parrinello coming into his own as a songwriter, with songs that are as instantly accessible as they are brimming with love and brooding intensity.

Black Eyed Dog subtly infuses his music with flavors and colors, evoking the numerous feelings that love brings. Fabio describes relationships with friends, women and life in general. From the heartbreaking tracks “Salina’s” (MP3) and “Lazy Butterfly”, to the darker “Daly Suicide” and “Bullet Proof” his lyrics tell a well crafted story regardless of the underlying mood.

Rhaianuledada (Songs To Sissy) was recorded at Vicolo Recording Studio in Marsala (Sicily) by Fabio Genco and was mastered by Luca Martegani in Varese. Also integral to the album is Tommy Quinci (who played clarinet in “Salina’s” and “Honeysuckle Gal” [MP3] and Ivan M. (who played violin in “Drink Me”.

Fabio Parrinello was born in 1979. Just like many teenagers of his age he began playing guitar after hearing Nevermind in 1992. He traveled a lot, he lived in Olympia, WA and Los Angeles playing in the college venues. He also lived and studied in London, playing in such bands as Kalima and Blue Room. He studied singing at the London Music School. Now he lives and works in Palermo. Parrinello chose to hide behind a band’s name to play his songs, just like the most introverted and shy American songwriters (Conor Oberst / Bright Eyes, Bill Callahan / Smog, Will Oldham / Bonnie Prince Billy) did. The moniker Parrinello chose is Black Eyed Dog, the title of a Nick Drake song.

Parrinello’s songs are delicate, moving and sweet and recall the best British folk ballads of the past. Parrinello’s debut album Love Is A Dog From Hell (Ghost Records/Audioglobe) was recorded at Ghost Records Studio in Varese and La Sauna in Varano Borghi and was mastered at Noise Studio in Miami, FL by Kramer. Rhaianuledada (Songs To Sissy) was recorded at Vicolo Recording Studio in Marsala (Sicily) by Fabio Genco and was mastered by Luca Martegani in Varese.
