Blind Fury emerged on the metal scene soon after the release of Satan’s “Court In The Act”. This wasn’t a mere coincidence – Blind Fury WAS in fact Satan, or to be more precise – Satan’s new incarnation. Under that name the group recorded only one album – “Out of Reach” (1985) – but it was enough to make Blind Fury a true metal icon! The album was rooted in the NWOBHM tradition, but instead of purely technical playing, the band went towards a more melodic and straight-forward approach. Songs like the brilliant opener “Do It Loud” or “Contact Rock and Roll” have a unique rock feel to them. Other highlights include “Evil Eyes”, “Back Inside” and the epic “Dance of the Crimson Lady, Part 1”. And even though the music on “Out of Reach” was less complex than on Satan’s last release, it was still far from radio-friendly and got often compared by the critics to the likes of Liege Lord, Attacker or Omen. The LP became a cult classic from the start, bringing a truly powerful dose of prime heavy metal.

The exclusive re-release of the album brings back a true metal highlight, filled with excellent guitar work (the Ramsey-Tippins team never fails!), intense drumming and passionate vocals. This is an absolute must-have for all fans of heavy metal madness! New digipak edition is limited to numbered 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc. Metal Mind Productions will release “Out Of Reach” on 20th April in Europe and 21st April in USA (via MVD).

Bio
The history of the group reaches back all the way to 1979 – that’s when Satan was formed in Newcastle, England. At that time the line-up consisted of Steve Ramsey (guitar), Graeme English (bass), Russ Tippins (guitar), Andy Reed (drums) and Trevor Robinson (vocals). As it soon turned out, only the first three remained constant members of the band, as the drummer and vocalist positions changed from one release to another. In November 1981 Satan released “The first demo”, containing four original songs. A year later another demo saw the light of day. “Into the Fire” featured 7 tracks and 2 new band members – Ian McCormack (drums) and Ian Swift (vocals). The release brought the attention of several record labels and in December 1982 Satan managed to record a 2-track single called “Kiss of Death” for Guardian Records (again with Reed and Robinson in the line-up). In early 1983 another label knocked on Satan’s door – Roadrunner Records. After signing a proper deal, the group begun the recording of their debut album – “Court in the Act” – this time with drummer Sean Taylor and vocalist Brian Ross who joined Satan after his former group – Blitzkrieg – disbanded. “Court in the Act” was eventually released in June, but even though it hit the stores immediately before the thrash metal explosion, being somewhat a pioneer on the scene, it failed to gain the proper popularity it deserved. Most critics claim that this LP was just a bit too much for the average listener in 1983, when even such bands as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden played music nowhere near as dynamic and aggressive as Satan.
After releasing “Court in the Act” the group parted with Brian Ross and replaced him by Lou Taylor. Soon they decided to change their name to Blind Fury, as the material they wrote for their next album differed from the previous releases. Thus in 1985 the newly formed assemble released their first (and, as it soon tuned out, last) LP “Out of Reach”. The album was still rooted in the NWOBHM tradition, but instead of purely technical playing, the band went towards a more melodic and straight-forward approach. Songs like the brilliant opener “Do It Loud” or “Contact Rock and Roll” have a unique rock feel to them. Other highlights include “Evil Eyes”, “Back Inside” and the epic “Dance of the Crimson Lady, Part 1”. The new vocalist, Lou Taylor, had a tough job replacing Ross, but eventually he managed to stand up to the task. His vocals resembled a bit Russ North from Cloven Hoof, giving the album a brilliant rock vibe.
The following years brought the band more name changes (first back to Satan and then to Kindred and Pariah), leaving “Out of Reach” the only release under the moniker Blind Fury. This exclusive re-release of the album brings back a true metal highlight, filled with excellent guitar work (the Ramsey-Tippins team never fails!), intense drumming and passionate vocals. This is an absolute must-have for all fans of heavy metal madness! New digipak edition is limited to numbered 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc.
