Six records into his career, Eric Elbogen (aka Say Hi) has just turned in his best album in an already respectably solid cannon. Oohs & Aahs is insanely catchy, from start to finish. Up until a couple of years ago, the band once known as Say Hi to Your Mom, used a home PC to record their lo-fi, indie pop albums.

Though still recording in Elbogen’s home in Seattle, they have stepped up to a proper studio set up and the difference is clear. Though far from over polished, the songs just sound crisper. Elbogen’s lyrics, thankfully, are still equal parts goofy and charming (“she’s got lips like a sofa when she’s strawing down a soda”). Coming in at 10 tracks, like almost all preceding Say Hi album, Oohs & Aahs sticks around just long enough to keep you wanting more.

Top Track: “Elouise,” Hallie and Henry” and “One, Two… One”

Rating: 9 out of 10
