The first full 12” from Scuba since the release of his debut album A Mutual Antipathy touches down on Hotflush with two killer tracks illustrating the development of the Scuba sound. The dubstep/techno amalgamation has continued to gather pace in recent months and the A side of HF022, Klinik, encapsulates this collision of genres perfectly. Rolling beats, syncopated variations, crushing sub and cavernous synths collide in what has been a staple of Scuba’s acclaimed DJ sets recently. The AA side lowers the bpm to a tempo only heard from Scuba on his SCB edit of Hard Boiled which surfaced in 2008 with Marcel Dettmann’s remix of From Within. Taking the theme deeper into distorted static than that track, Hundreds and Thousands pushes the boundaries of the Scuba sound into uncharted territory.
