On the heels of completing their “Invisible Tour”, New York City’s indie surrealists Aeroplane Pageant prepare the release of their sophomore full-length Even The Kids Don’t Believe Me, out June 9 on Stormy Ice Records. Unable to differentiate fact from fantasy this psychedelic-pop opus finds itself somewhere caught between the cheeky playfulness of Montreal and the solid tunefulness of Grand Archives, marked by stirring guitars and groove-oriented bass lines loosely bound by hazy dream logic.

Aeroplane Pageant emerged from Long Island, NY in 2005 led by songwriter Brian Kelly with his childhood friends Chris Aguis, Mike Areephituk and Tim Watson. Eager to record professionally after a year of relentless practice, they put to tape their fledgling EP, He Is Fire [Inner Flight Records]. The debut was immediately well received garnering national radio play and rave reviews, Pop Matters called He Is Fire, “a well crafted and finely executed…melodic pop effort.” 2007’s full-length follow-up Wave to the Moon was warmly received earning them spots with notable acts such as Vampire Weekend, The Hold Steady, Dr. Dog, Tokyo Police Club, White Rabbits, Mystery Jets, O’Death & Rahim; and playing shows at the Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, The Mercury Lounge, Union Hall, Southpaw, and a tour across the U.S. and Canada.

American-made, barely punk, with some last-minute domestic surrealism, Even the Kids Don’t Believe Me was initiated in a winter-rental beach house on Long Island. From there the compiled audio and other non-musical elements were transferred over to Treefort Studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn where Shane Patrick Stoneback (Vampire Weekend, Jim Jarmusch, White Stripes) could gloss, pry, and/or add to the standing material. With the release of Even the Kids Don’t Believe Me this summer, the group continues their march towards obvious superstardom and all are encouraged to sing along the way.

“Even the Kids Don’t Believe Me possesses a Beatles playfulness that is harnessed by vocalist Brian Kelly’s highly memorable vocals. There’s a magnetism to his voice that keeps one wanting more every time he opens his mouth…the guitar work is the other exemplary facet of this disc. The riffs curve, duck, cascade and gush rather effusively and the choruses are ephemeral, gnomic and twee…Everything about their music is one hundred percent unique.” ~Absolutepunk

“…it is hard to ignore Kelly’s voice, especially on such stand-out tracks as “I Remember I Think”, and “Stars Still Pretty”.” ~We Heart Music

“…AP is a band set to receive a great deal of praise both now and in the future” ~PopMatters

“Neat mentally absorbing stuff… ” ~LMNOP

“It’s just the type of combination that finds a way into your sub- conscious.” ~Blogcritic

“…dreamy, indie-pop songs guarded by the caffeinated fence of post-punk revivalism and resting beneath bittersweet clouds of early shoegazer rock.” ~Prefixmag

“…Singer Brian Kelly, blessed with a fine, slightly quavering voice, sounds like a folk poet and a shaggy rocker at the same time, crooning his way through soft verses and belting out noisy choruses.” ~Newsday
