There are few films out that actually improve upon their source material, but Confessions of a Shopaholic may just be one of those few. Originally a novel by Sophie Kinsella, the Touchstone title of the same name immediately will draw attention due to the casting choices that are present. Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) takes up the mantle of Rebecca Bloomwood, the movie’s main character whom is beholden to eir shopping habit.

After interviewing with an individual that had already helped eir out in the purchase of a pricey personal accouterment (Hugh Dancy as Luke Brandon), Rebecca’s life begins to take a negative spiral. Whether Rebecca is able to pull eirself out of this hole is the crux of the film and is beyond my purview here: Disney has made a great collection of different features with this Blu-Ray that goes into further details regarding the sequence of events that contain this spiral. This romantic comedy benefits much from the careful addition and cultivation of these features, many of which will be enjoyed fully for those that have purchased the Blu-Ray edition.

The six minutes of deleted scenes give viewers some better idea of the way that director P.J. Hogan wanted the film to ultimately be scene, while the bloopers showcase a different side to the different actors that were present in the film. The most interesting bonus feature on the Blu-Ray would have to be the trio of videos that are present. While most individuals will be familiar with “Stuck With Each Other”, a Shontelle and Akon duet, there are two songs here – Trey Songz “Takes Time To Love” and Jordyn Taylor’s “Accessory” – that will be new finds for many. Throw in a number of different behind the scenes types of presentations (focusing on the costume design, set design, and about the idiosyncrasies present with shopping in New York City), and viewers will be given quite a few hours of time with this purchase.
