Kirby Tha Hottest is one of the hottest up and coming rappers in the scene right now. We here at NeuFutur first heard eir track “White Friends” on the “Gimme Back My Swagg” mixtape put out by DJ Teknikz. Ey sat down with NeuFutur and answered some of our questions:

Q:What’s your story? How’d you fall into rap?

A:Honestly rap was always on the back burning, basketball was always my first love. Growing up I always wrote poetry never knowing that, that same poetry would turn into a rap or a verse. After high school the total opposite happen. The more my chances of making it to the league got slimmer the more my chances of making it in the music business got greater. So now basketball is my second love and music became my first. Done a couple of songs and people actually thought they were good. So really the music thing was inflenced from the people. They welcome me with open arms and im here to stay.

Q:Who are you listening to right now?

A:Honestly i listen to everything. I try to keep my ears updated with the latest music so i could keep pace of whats working in the game and whats not. As of lately my music has been the most important in my life so of course I listen to Kirbythahottest first, K.O.P, Shamrock, Drake, ti, keri hilton, Beyonce, and Jay-Z always.

Q:What or who do you think will be big in the next year?

A:Again hopes are high for that Kirby dude, then you got Drake making noise. Im interested in hearing the next Keri Hilton single see how she progress. Trey songs is a breast. Its very hard to predict the game now days because most artist is swinging and missing right now.

Q:Is “White Friends” good in the sense that you are getting exposure, or is it bad because people that like the track will expect similar in the future?

A:Hahaha One thing about “White Friends” is its so original. How many people ever said “I Got White Friends” in an actual song? How many people got the guts to be themselves and say “I Got White Friends.” Well im the first and everybody getting money got at least 1 or more white friends.lol Good music is Good music. Nobody expected Wayne to do Lollipop autotuned up but its one of the biggest songs in his career. The unexpected is selling right now. So they could expect what they want but imma give em me. Thats all i know how to do. Most artist cant sell and be themselves thats why you get a different person every album. All my music is me and believe me im one of the coolest dudes on earth so its gone sell. Imma make it cool to be me.

Q:What differences in terms of lifestyle, music, or anything have you seen between Detroit and Atlanta?

A:Detroit is more of every man for themselves. Atlanta is more friendly. Detroit music is Detroit music. You only talk about whats yo life is like. Atlanta have alot of artist that talk about lifestyles that they dont actually live. Me being part of both cities gives me an open mind and sense of direction because i know them both so well. When you hear the Detroit come out of me you will be able to tell. Then when im on my Atlanta shit you would know. I love them both.

Q:Are drugs/alcohol good or bad for rap or is are the presence of those things just something based out of real life?

A:Honestly as a kid growing up artist putting those things in there music and just telling it like it is helped me so much. So in my mind I love when they keep it real on a track because everything aint peaches and cream. I feel like everybody in the game should talk about their lifestyle. On the other hand the consumers should listen to their lifestyle. If you dont live the lifestyle that an artist is rapping about then change what you listen to to someone who is rapping about your lifestyle. No harm done.

Q:How have you gotten more of your fans – Myspace / Twitter or traditional word of mouth? Have you noticed anything different between these types of fans?

A:Myspace fans could be anyone. Twitter fans could be anyone. Word of mouth is mostly done in the streets so you gone get the streets communicating which is the core of the music business. Whatever the streets of American like is normally whats gone work.

Q:Who else in the rap scene have you met and who is out there right now that you would like to collaborate with?

A:I would like to collab with Keri Hilton, Trey Songs, Lloyd, Ti, and a few others. I mostly have met djs no major artist meetings yet. I have ran into them but meeting is different to me than shaking hands and speaking. Theres more to meeting someone than that.

Q:How should people find your music? Are there any mixtapes coming out that they should look into buying?

A:The internet; myspace, twitter, youtube, /kirbythahottest. Or go google Kirbythahottest and everything would pop-up. Also me and DJ Teknikz have built an somewhat relationship so look for me and him to work on something in the future.

Q:What else should we know ?
