The cover of “Another Page” would throw off pretty much anyone that looked at is, as the smudgy art piece on the front cover would typically indicate something along the lines of a throwback band. To counter this, Megan Cameron sounds at the top of her game, eliciting comparisons to Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant, and Alanis Morisette. Each song does not go too far out with experimentation, but one will almost continually hear a number of interesting instruments on this disc, from the didgeridoo, glockenspiel, violin, and flute. As a result, the type of music that Megan puts out would definitely be at place on NPR or the typical alternative station. Each track, driven by the smooth vocals of Megan, brings something new to the entire experience without completely divourcing itself from the flow of the CD as a whole. The piano lines at the beginning of “Shaman’s Heart” sounds a little too contrived, as if it came from a scene in one of those 1940’s movies with a private eye’s office being barraged by rain. “Roll on Thunder” contains the same amazingly catchy vocals by Megan, as well as a very driving piano beat, but is drawn down by inopportune didgeridoo playing at places. Surprising at nearly ever turn, the album will not disappoint anyone who ventures out to the local store to pick it up.
