We here at NeuFutur HQ received a bottle of the “Grand Cosmopolitan” cocktail a few weeks back, and just finally had a chance to go and give it the coverage that it rightfully deserves. For those individuals that have no clue what a Cosmopolitan actually is, it blends together vodka, Grand Marnier, and cranberry juice (some other iterations include lime juice). This 30 proof drink really shines when it is lightly chilled (with the party ensuring that it does not become completely frozen), going down as easily as the cranberry juice that is present here.

While most drinkers will already be looking to do it, I believe that crushing up ice and pouring this cocktail will make something that all can appreciate: an alcoholic sno-come. Finally (and this is only if interested parties actually have a bottle of it present), please a measure of limoncello into the grand cosmopolitan. The added fruitiness of the spirit will give the Grand Cosmopolitan an additional boost and keep all interested throughout the entirety of the bottle. Compared to most normal cosmopolitans that myself and other writers for NeuFutur have had in the past, the oomph to the Smirnoff Grand Cosmopolitan is a little light.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, and drinkers need to realize that this is more than likely due to the cocktails’ lighter alcohol content. If this does create a problem, throw in the equivalent amounts of Smirnoff and Grand Marnier to make this into a Cosmopolitan that is your style. However, like the rest of the Smirnoff Cocktails line, Diageo has taken a traditional drink and demystified it, giving the average individual a lower price-point way to culture themselves. I look forward to seeing exactly where the Smirnoff Cocktails will expand in the next months and years.
