Good eye, Coheed, you make, we love…

The story picks up where the last disc closes, and I’m not even talking about the amazing story line/comic book series that is one of the most intelligent bands of our generation. I’m talking the beauty that is the new Coheed and Cambria album. Musically and lyrically Claudio Sanchez (vocals/guitar), Travis Stever (guitar), Michael Todd (bass), and Josh Eppard (drums) provide yet another brilliant master piece with their new release Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV; Volume 1: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. Ahead of their time by leaps and bounds, yet Coheed and Cambria still manages to include within their cd elements of classic rock/and 80’s metal with very heavy Iron Maiden influences. The new disc also combines progressive rock tendencies with punk rock and metal undertones to the classic rock sound which are laced delicately throughout the disc. This quartet from New York offers a sound that is free form and genre less, in which almost any good music fan can appreciate.

This means the band can only continue to pave itself a golden path to the top. To close the song Crossing the Frame, vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez sings in the way that only he can the words “Casting Quarters into wells that hold our dreams, you won’t believe me if I told you so.” Well I personally believe, and I feel this record can make everyone else believers as well. Plain and simple, the new album is a culmination of all great things in rock music today. I can’t stress it enough, but if you have yet to dive into the Coheed and Cambria story line, I encourage you to start with this record. It will challenge you as a listener, and leave you hungry for more. After getting on board hold on tight, because with the songs “Welcome Home, and “The Suffering,” already receiving heavy plays on the radio waves theirs no telling where Coheed and Cambria might be propelled too. They might even actually do the unthinkable, and make radio cool to listen to again.

Song Picks: Crossing the Frame, Always and Never, who am I kidding they all are amazing!
