Players may remember that Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance was originally a PC title, and has just been made into a Xbox 360 game. Where there were some issues with the PC version of the game, the time spent bringing the game to the Xbox 360 has ensured that those over at Playlogic could iron them out. For those that missed out on the story behind Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance. This shooter allows players to take on the role of Ryan Lennox, a hell-employed individual who has been tapped by Lucius Black to take down those that previously scorned eir.

This means that Lennox can tear up the EtherLight foundation, a subset of Heaven. After getting through that back story, Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance opens up into a fun shoot-em-up in the vein of Turok or Bioshock. Players can roll, hide behind objects, and even use demon-imbued superpowers to get out of circumstances that would normally entail death. The graphics themselves are smooth, avoiding choppiness even when there are a number of things going on the screen at the same time. The same can be said regarding the teleportation skills that Lennox has; where a number of games include the feature, it may just be Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance that has the best use of the skill with the least problematic graphics that I’ve seen. The voice acting is passable, while the number of attacks that Ryan can use puts the game in the upper echelons comparatively. I like that there is another decent shooter title for the Xbox 360; it has seemed in the last few years that the amount of them have decreased.

Of course, there is Halo, but with so many years in between the sequels, players are hungering for more. Where most normal ports are seen as somewhat inferior to exclusive content, I feel that there is enough to Infernal: Hell’s Vengeance to merit a purchase. If you are the least bit antsy about purchasing this title, give it a rent and you will see what I mean.
