Disco Ensemble is shutting it down and cracking up noses in Europe with their new single “Back on The MF Street” off the newly released EP of the same name. Now, the Finnish phenoms are bringing their genre-defying sound to the United States & Canada, having released their latest EP this spring on Fullsteam Records (www.fullsteamrecords.com) and U.S. label Paper Tiger AV (www.papertigerav.com) and a new video for their single made 100& DIY by the band. This EP is the fifth addition to their impressive catalog. The innovative and energetic Finnish four-piece released another EP in 2001, and have three full length albums under their belts.

This summer, they are embarking on an expansive European tour, hitting up several major European festivals with their latest material. Touring is natural for the tireless band whose efforts created the buzz that got them an international record deal with Vertigo Records/Universal Music Group. The culmination of their summer performances will be playing the main stage of the SZIGET FESTIVAL (Europe’s largest music and cultural festival) on August 16, sharing it with Faith No More, The Offspring, Maximo Park, and Danko Jones. KERRANG praised Disco Ensemble, classifying their sound as “thrilling, edgy post-hardcore with huge choruses and colossal vats of energy” and DROWNED IN SOUND lauds the Finns as an act you “really should not miss”.

Disco Ensemble was formed in 1997 by Jussi Ylikoski (guitar) and Mikko Hakila (drums) who played their first live shows under the name DisCo. In 2000, Miikka Koivisto(vocals/keys), an avid DisCo fan and vocalist of another local band, was recruited. In 2001, the boys signed with the then up-and-coming Fullsteam Records, added Ensemble onto their name, and in 2003 released the debut album Viper Ethics which was well received among the indie-punk scene, giving way to their first European tour. The 2005 sophomore album First Aid Kit was released in over 20 countries and climbed to ninth on Finnish album charts. Soon thereafter, they played the largest music festivals in Europe including Roskilde, Rock am Ring/Rock im Park, and Glastonbury, while staying true to their humble underground beginnings.

2008 was a tremendous year for the boys who debuted to United States audiences on Warped Tour to support their third full-length album Magic Recoveries that was produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (The Hives, Refused, The Robocop Kraus). They were also nominated for the Finnish Emma awards for Rock Album of the Year (Magic Recoveries), won the Emma for The Domestic DVD of the Year (Video Vortex), and snagged the MTV European Music Awards for Best Finnish Act of 2008.
