Ben Esser, the 23 year old pop genius better known to most simply as Esser, is getting ready for his first American tour in September and October, supporting Datarock. His debut album, Braveface (out this fall on Chocolate Industries), is a ten track lesson in pop mastery, peppered with dashes of electronica, early 90’s club bliss, and rhythmic ska and dubhop with massive hooks. Esser has spent much of the past few years fine tuning his music, and remixing other artists (Little Boots, The Streets, Kaiser Chiefs, etc.), capturing the attention of everyone from Don Letts to Hedi Slimane in the process. The next logical step was to bring his show to the US, and he’s bringing a band with him: a drummer, guitarist and bassist, and you will likely see Esser grabbing some drum sticks and banging on something, bopping his coiffed ‘do and tattooed neck in the process. These dates will be much of America’s first chance to fall in love with the talented young man they’ll come to know as Esser.
