For those individuals that have intimately familiarized themselves with this Disgaea series, Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is a revamped version of 2006’s Disgaea title (for the Playstation 2). Storyline-wise, it is followed up by Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice (released last year for the Playstation 3). However, for those individuals that have already played the Playstation 2 version of the game, NIS America has added a tremendous amount of functionality to the game. Despite the vibrant colors, artwork, and animation present in this title, what will immediately hit players would have to be the dark brush which was used to craft the story.

This means that Adell sees the entirety of eri hometown turn into monsters, even viewing eir mother try to cook eir father; it is up to Adell and the players controlling eir to take on big baddy Zenon and change back everything that had been changed. The number of different segments present in Dark Hero Days ensures that the playtime available this title is easily on par with titles in the Final Fantasy or similar line, while the different spells and monsters that players can incorporate into the title in the PSP version gives further replay value. Cross-title capabilities are present for those that own both Dark Hero Days and Afternoon of Darkness, as well; one can create female Ronins if there is a save state from the latter in the former.

Furthermore, NIS has ensured that the best parts of subsequent games have been applied to the earlier title, as the Magichange system first presented in Absence of Justice has been included. Without a weak point to be had, Dark Hero Days ensures that players that only have the PSP will not miss out on one of the best RPGs released in the latter half of the oughts. For those that have already bought the title, there are more than enough additions and bits of polish to make this a worthwhile purchase.
