2001.4 song demo. Very fast tempoed punk with a vocalist such as Anthony Kiedas from the Red Hot Chili Peppers or the lead vocalist from the Stranglers. The guitarist is amazingly skillful in his trade as the guitar solos just blow me away. The songs of Emergence are in the hurried style of so many of the great punk bands of the 1970’s. The recording on this album is fantastic, more then I expected from a band’s CD that consisted of a slimline case with a cover on the front that contained the contact information on the back. The overall sound of these guys is very impressive. “The Chosen One” sounds like a mix between the Misfits and the Ramones, with an interesting set of subject matter and a catchy chorus. The level that these guys adhere to the 1970’s punk is commendable, and the music, I cannot say this enough times, is great. For the first time in a long string of reviews, I can actually make out what these guys are singing about. One peeve about this band is that this CD is too damn short. I want more of this band. The lack of a very noticeable bass lets the terrific drumming speak for itself, and perhaps we will see these guys in the States in a few years, provided that everything goes well. These guys definitely have the talent to progress in the industry, but only time will tell what exactly will happen with them. The beginning of “The Chosen One” strongly reminds me of the intro to “Blitzkrieg Bop” by the Ramones. Keep up the great work!.
