Jason Derulo, pop singer and songwriter, and the highly anticipated Beluga Heights sophomore artist, debuted his single, “Whatcha Say,†and is taking the music world by storm. Quickly reaching #4 on ITUNES at 101,324 downloads to date, up 71% over last week’s 59,373, and climbing up the Billboard Rhythm and Pop charts, the multi-talented artist/songwriter is on the rise to stardom. After being discovered by super producer J.R. Rotem, American Idol judge, and Warner Bros. Records Senior Vice President of A&R Kara DioGuardi signed Derulo to Beluga Heights /Warner Bros. Records as the flagship artist to launch from the joint venture label.
This summer, Derulo has been on-air in a nationwide radio promo tour with “Whatcha Say” spreading to over 120 Top 40 and Rhythm radio stations, including 40 stations in top 50 markets, like wildfire. His audience leaped from 11.85 to 16.85 million with 24 new pop station adds just this week. Performing at high profile events including KIIS FM’s Wango Tango, he is rapidly generating national buzz. The single has reached 6.6 million plays on MySpace making it the #4 most streamed song on the site.
The Miami-born Derulo is the first artist signed to Warner Bros. Records’ new joint venture with multi-platinum songwriter and producer J.R. Rotem’s record label Beluga Heights, responsible for launching the career of multi-platinum pop star Sean Kingston. Derulo is the Beluga Heights highly anticipated sophomore artist and has written songs for Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston, Pitbull, Diddy and Danity Kane and shared stages with T-Pain, Akon, and Mims. “Jason Derulo is beyond the real deal. The yet untitled album slated to release first quarter of 2010 will feature a new genre where Pop and Euro Dance and remarkable songwriting all combine into a refreshing and versatile new sound. Derulo will also be seen showcasing his acting abilities for the first time, making his feature film debut in the 2010 release of the MTV Films, “Turn The Beat Around.†With an album and film on the way, Derulo is destined to make his mark for 2010.
