Returning to the studio to record their third album, Leopold and his Fiction brings a number of firsts to the process including the first recording with new line up of Daniel James (Vocals/Guitar), Micayla Grace (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Jon Sortland (Drums/Vocals/Organ), producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Little Joy, Vetiver) and the studio experience at The Hanger in Sacramento.

James attributes much of the release’s gained momentum to the presence of Jon and Micayla in the new line up, stating, “The musicality takes a giant leap with the additions of Jon and Micayla’s rhythm section. As for the songwriting process, it follows suit of the previous recordings, but this time reaching deeper into the craft.” While Leopold and his Fiction explores new ground with the forthcoming release, they continue to create a sound that cohesively blends Detroit garage-rock ‘n’ roll, Grass Valley folk and Western darkness.

Climbing to #30 on the CMJ charts with its self-titled debut and earning praise from NPR, Relix and Big Takeover among others for Ain’t No Surprise, Leopold and his Fiction houses an honest and transcendent San Francisco rock ‘n’ roll band “that mashes up the best of The Black Keys and Kings of Leon” (Hear Ya) while tapping into classic vintage rock’n’roll.
