Gordon Ramsay has had an international presence over the course of the last few years, especially considering the success of the American version. Acorn has ensured that the British (original) version of the show is not something that will be lost to all time, and has put out the second series of the show. There are not too many features here in this DVD set beyond the biography of Ramsay eirself, but one has to look at the fact that the show has been committed to DVD for Region 1, and viewers here will be able to see exactly what has changed in the years since the original show was aired. This bit of 2005-era shows ranges all through the United Kingdom, with South Wales (The Walnut Tree Inn) covered just as well as Letchworth (La Lanterna), Inverness (Scotland; La Riviera), and Silsden (Bonapartes Restaurant, The Glass House). The best thing that is here is the consistency of Ramsay, despite the different staff members, cuisine offered, and overall attitude present at the restaurant in question.

For those that are not knowledgeable about the show, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares gives Gordon Ramsay one week to attempt to turn around a failing restaurant. Working with the staff, it is generally believed that the restaurants will do somewhat batter after Ramsay’s change. There seems to be a rougher edge present to the British version of Kitchen Nightmares that is simply not there in the American one. Viewers will love to hate Ramsay, but there seems to be a number of chestnuts of information present among the angry and profanity-laced tirades.

Fans of the British version of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares would do well to purchase this series, as good sales of this release will ensure that the last three series of the shows will make it into print.
