Whether it be at the local sushi buffet or some of the more upscale Japanese establishments that we here at NeuFutur have been to in the last few years, we have made it a point to check out the sake menus. It was quite a pleasant surprise then to received the Ty Kyu Sake for review a few weeks back, so much so in fact that we had to get something special set up to properly try it out. When the event came around, we were able to collaborate and create this review for what is one of the most memorable Sakes that we have ever had. The best way to experience the Ty Ku would have to be through chilling the bottle and sipping it straight, providing one with a tremendously detailed flavor profile.

This means, that depending on which sip one takes, floral, perfume, and fruit notes are present. The fruit notes are what individuals need to take notice of, with jackfruit, pear, lychee, and even plum flavors collaborating to create a truly unique flavor. The higher grade of the Ty Ku Sake (junmai Ginjo) separates it from the rest of the pack, with only a miniscule fraction(10%) of all sakes bottles bearing that designation. That is why sipping the spirit is so essential, but do not let my focus on the sipping seem as if it only shines that way.

Rather, the Ty Ku shines admirably in blends with other spirits, juices, and random mixers. Tie together the Ty Ku sake and Ty Ku liqueur for a Sake Sangria, or the Ty Ku Sake, Liqueur, and a bit of fresh lime, for a Ty Kutini, and your party or event will take the next step toward being memorable . One reviewer found a concoction named “Bonzai Tea”, which contains sake, sweet and sour, and a splash of Coke, to be another drink that goes down easy while imparting a rosiness that does not quit. Regardless of how individuals tackle it, Ty Ku Sake (at around $30) is the best sake around, providing drinkers that may not normally be a fan of the spirit with a reason to bone up on their Japanese rice spirits.

  1. My sister-in-law purchased Ty Ku Sake for our parents as a holiday gift last year and I have to say, it is a beast when it comes to sake. The best anyone in our family has ever tasted and we like to think we know a lot about sake. A shame to put sake in a mixed cocktail, but if you can already appreciate the taste, it isn’t the worst thing someone can do :D!

  2. oh my gosh I had this stuff at my friend’s holiday party and let me tell you…. it doesn’t taste very strong but don’t let it fool you! a few drinks in and we were feeling it. definitely worth the money because it doesn’t taste like alcohol, but it definitely is.

  3. I think the best part of this liqueur is the fact that it’s lo-cal and it tastes great in anything we mix it with (club soda, juice, sprite). I love it and order it whenever I find it at a bar.
