Bad Veins’ first radio track, “Gold and Warm,” was singled out in Spin magazine as one of September’s “Songs You Must Hear Now!,” praising the boys for flipping, “Pavement’s slacker racket into mainstream magic.”

The band’s non-traditional live set-up of telephones, megaphones and a vintage reel-to-reel player named “Irene,” have garnered them much attention, but it’s their undeniable songwriting chops that have made them truly stand out. Or as MTV succinctly put it: “The band’s secret is Davis’ knack for writing yearning, fuzzed out pop songs that straddle the murky divide between glum rockers the National and the nervous energy of the Strokes.”
