Brooklyn, NY heavy psych rock trio NAAM has just released its debut album. The fast-rising buzz band’s self-titled debut Naam is in stores now via Tee Pee Records. The brand new NAAM track “Black Ice” has been posted online courtesy of Revolver magazine. Check out the “apocalyptic final track on the psychedelic sludge-rock group’s self-titled debut” now at this location.

NAAM’s high-voltage power and addictive sonance has found favor with both metalheads and psychedelic rock fans alike, all of whom have talked up the group’s thundering musical muscle. The album has met to first-rate acclaim in the weeks leading up to its release, being championed as “a tightrope walk between hyper-distorted stoner metal bustle and Brooklyn’s long-standing psych-rock hedgerow” by the Village Voice while Decibel proclaimed that the record “brings us back to the grand old days of when metal was invariably preceded by “heavy” and boogied as well as shredded.” NAAM will appear live tonight (Friday, October 23) as part of an absolutely stellar bill at the Tee Pee Records CMJ showcase at NYC’s Cake Shop.

The follow up to the group’s three-song mega-EP Kingdom, Naam was recorded on an abandoned dairy farm in New York’s Catskill Mountains and delivers pitch-dark, utterly hypnotic songs that resurrect the concept of space-rock for a new era. NAAM’s raw, feedback-powered sound pools densely distorted riff-o-rama with throbbing bass lines and echoey, buzzy vocals that seem to hang in the open spaces in between. The new NAAM song “Icy Row” can also be heard now via Stereogum. Check it out now at this location.

“Whatever the level of high, the heavy psychedelic trio drift regularly into echoed and sometimes Crimsoned-out excursions without losing momentum or their excellent vintage stoner doom groove. Think pre-God Is Good OM with a two vocalists and more hands.” – STEREOGUM

“Brooklyn kraut-metal crushers NAAM take the trippiest part of your favorite Hawkwind song and stretch it like space-taffy into hypnotic, riff-driven mush…a sucking black hole of reverb and space dust–think Wooden Shjips on scarier drugs, Dead Meadow with dirtier denim jackets, Om with bleaker outlooks.” – VILLAGE VOICE

“very tasty…brings us back to the grand old days of when metal was invariably preceded by “heavy” and boogied as well as shredded.” – DECIBEL

“There are very few bands in the known universe that you can say draw upon such varied influences as the Stooges, Hawkwind, and Can. But the Brooklyn, NY trio, Naam, certainly fits the aforementioned bill. On their self-titled 2009 debut, the group issues a vintage sounding offering that manages to include elements of stoner rock, garage rock, and psychedelic star-gazing.” – ALL MUSIC

“fantastic…I’d recommend them to fans of Dead Meadow, the Black Angels, Om, Black Mountain, and other rad psychedelic shit.” – CRUSTCAKE

“Brooklyn’s Naam are the latest addition to Tee Pee Records’ ever-growing, ever-badass roster. The band can best be described as heavy psychedelic stoner rock (with a few surprises along the way)” – AOL MUSIC’s NOISECREEP

“Blown out psych rock…blissful sub-retro fuzz” – STONER ROCK.com
