Soulsavers, the nom de plume of English production duo Rich Machin + Ian Glover, are joining up with perpetual collaborator Mark Lanegan to tour Europe as special guests with the legendary Depeche Mode. This tour is in support of their hauntingly beautiful third album, Broken! Broken was released digitally in the U.S. this past August on Columbia Records; the physical release date is still on the horizon. In addition to the European arena dates with Depeche Mode, Soulsavers are also headlining several shows of their own throughout the tour.

In support of the release of Broken, their upcoming tour, and the imminent HOWL-iday, they’ve released the ghoulish and unsettling new video for their song “Unbalanced Pieces,” directed by Hiro Murai.

Hiro Murai says “The initial concept for ‘Unbalanced Pieces’ came from a conversation I had with the band over our shared love for David Lynch, especially his off putting ambiguity and uncanny portrayal of a dystopian suburbia. The making of the video consisted of shooting still photographs of suburban Rancho Cucamonga, which we then projected inside a dark studio to give us a surreal sense of space and atmosphere.”

Also, for fans of the new NBC show “Mercy,” perhaps you heard Soulsavers’ “You Will Miss Me When I Burn” last Wednesday? This is one of many songs they’ve had.

Rave Reviews of SoulsaversÂ’ Broken:

“A spiritually haunting album replete with heartbreaking crooner ballads, bluesy dirges and stripped-down country gospel suggestive of Johnny Cash’s late-period American recordings.” – Bob Gendron, Chicago Tribune

“…hefty, unhurried songs that could turn into organ-chorded hymns, tolling drones, somber waltzes or blues laced with echoey psychedelia.” – Jon Pareles, The New York Times

“British production team Soulsavers have managed to take the moody electronica usually wasted on

restaurant ambience and magically imbue it with the real-life God/sex/death heartwork of gospel.” – Chris Wiengarten, The Village Voice

“Their imposing third album substantially increases the scale of their heavily orchestrated, Ennio Morricone-influenced rock and soulÂ… This is gloom worth wallowing in” – The Observer – CD Of The Week

“epic, wide-screen, evocativeÂ… Mark Lanegan is in sonorous, imperious voice” – MOJO – 4 Stars ****

“Mark Lanegan reprises his role as a latter day Johnny Cash, while fellow alt-rock alumni Jason Pierce, Mike Patton and Richard Hawley make fleeting cameos. The result could be the soundtrack to the greatest spaghetti western never made.” – Q – 4 Stars ****

“a tumultuous amalgamation of zoned-out jazz lines, wistful soul vocals, moody strings, dreamlike electronic sequences and compact rockÂ… A veritable DanteÂ’s INFERNO of an album” – NME – 8/10

“Mark Lanegan distinguishes Machin and GloverÂ’s concept project for a second timeÂ… Nobody does the dark stuff better.” – The Independent – 4 Stars ****
