Singles are always the hardest thing to review, and it was with great trepidation that I actually put this disc into the player. Immediately noticeable is the fact that the masterful hand of Rick Chudacoff (Allison Kraus) has made this track into something that is something easily accessible regardless of musical outbringing. The track starts out with a country-twinge, but really moves into a sort of classic (but contemporary) rock groove; the musical equivalent (albeit backwards) of Diamond Rio. Even if the track starts out with pretty much only the strains of the acoustic, the rest of Tom Fuller’s supporting band does wonders to create an atmosphere; the slide guitar probably the most out of them is present for eliciting a greater emotional content to the track. When Tom and the rest of the band actually get into the rock section of the song, they are blindsided with the minor issue of the track sounding too plain and dependant on the work of previous artists for inspiration.

For example, the guitar solo is a middle-ground sort of composition that does not necessarily sound like that of Santana, but rather like an amalgamation of those leaders in guitar – Richie Sambora, Slash, and Santana eirself. The track’s original version is able to elaborate on some of the differing sounds that mark this track, but perhaps meanders a little too much to properly leave a positive impact on the listeners. The radio edit is smartly terse, and it is perhaps through that track that Tom Fuller can really get eir name out there. Of course, this single has the benefit of perking my (and I’m sure a number of other listeners’) interest, and even if the track has a few noticeable flaws, individuals will want to see where Fuller goes with the full-length album.
