Ciroc Coconut is the first spirit that we have received that has not actively been on the market yet, so I feel as if our little Alcohol Reviews section is finally getting somewhere. As that is enough of an aside, we will take an in-depth look at the spirit now.

Ciroc itself had been an interesting anomaly in terms of vodka. Where a great number of higher-end vodkas pride themselves on having a smooth burn and a nuanced aftertaste, Ciroc was sharper and (as a result) more memorable than say a Grey Goose or Belvedere. This distinctive taste may have turned some individuals off from the vodka, and with the release of the Coconut (and its “brother”, Red Berry), I hope that these same individuals can find their way back.

This is due to the fact that the Ciroc Coconut is one of the best flavored vodkas that NeuFutur tasters have ever gotten their hands on. The initial nose that will be noticed is softly-stated, and brings up memories of rich and creamy Coconut pastries or other comfort food. The first sip that these imbibers will have is a monumental meeting of the minds, where the cool, collected Coconut tastes plays off perfectly with the more gritty and strong vodka feel that the original Ciroc had.

Where the spirit itself works perfectly in a sipping or shooting format, I had the most luck matching Ciroc Coconut up with different fruit juices. What results when the Ciroc Coconut is blended together with Mango Juice, for example, is simply sublime. Other possibilities include linking together the spirit with Pineapple and Papaya Juices or even alongside a tequila for a tropical-themed Marguerita. If you are a fan of fruit-infused spirits, make it a duty to pick up a bottle of the Ciroc Coconut whenever it does land in your local liquor store.

  1. I strongly disagree. For the price on this premium vodka, the flavor turned out to be a big disappointment and no where near impressive or commendable. It does not have tastes or aromas of creamy coconut or pastries. I find that Parrot Bay Coconut Rum and Malibu have more of the pleasant, buttery, coconutty aromas and flavors nicely married with eachother. Coconut vodkas and coconut rums are tricky, because the bad ones are really bad and taste like coconut rum, but not in the rich, buttery and chewy-like-coconut candy (without the sugar overload) flavors of the good quality ones. The bad ones, usually the cheap ones, taste like the plastic wrapper of coconut candy rather than the coconut candy themselves. My point is, it’s got the flavor, but not the right balance and strength to stand up on its own and remain memorable on the palate and on the mind. I bought the Ciroc coconut vodka out of curiousity, but am highly disappointed that I wasted my money. I’d rather get a Parrot Bay, Malibu or Cruzan over this any day. Don’t waste your money!
