2009 was unquestionably a benchmark year for YOKO ONO. At 76 years young, the seemingly tireless innovator continues to evolve and break new ground, living life at the cutting edge of her imagination. She ascended to the top of the Billboard Dance/Club Play Charts once again with her fiery remix single “I’M NOT GETTING ENOUGH” (Issue Date: 6/13/2009) — her third consecutive chart-topper. The propulsive anthem marked the tenth release from the pop culture icon’s ongoing remix single campaign which has yielded five #1 singles.

She closes the decade with another milestone under her belt: her #1 dance smash “NO NO NO” (THE REMIXES) has been named the #4 Record of the Decade on Billboard’s “Best of the 2000s” Dance/Club Play Chart, placing the enduring counterculture icon alongside mainstream pop powerhouses MADONNA, MARIAH CAREY and GWEN STEFANI.

With such phenomenal successes, it would appear that the world has finally caught up with the avant-garde pioneer who, after more than four decades, has ingeniously transformed herself from vilified outsider to punk rock matriarch, global peace ambassador and chart-topping dance-music heroine. She is branded “audacious, deeply focused, wonderfully colorful and deeply expressive” (All Music Guide), “truly vital: unsettling, touching, funny, undeniable” (Rolling Stone) and “fantastically cool, fearlessly weird” (Daily Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/culturecritics/helenbrown/6198343/Yoko-Ono-Between-My-Head-and-the-Sky-CD-review.html ).

ONO is preparing for the release of her next remix offering, “GIVE ME SOMETHING”. Due for a March release on MIND TRAIN / TWISTED Records, the driving single promises to be another stimulating reinvention from the formidable visionary.
