Kings Cliffe, England is a sleepy civil parish just hours North of London. However, from within the confines of the quiet town’s unruffled essence come synth-pop quartet Fenech-Soler. Originally conceived as a studio project by brothers Ben and Ross Duffy, with child hood friend Dan Soler – whiling away the hours of a sleepy existence in the quiet provincial town – the trio combined with drummer and studio partner Andrew Lindsay to create an unlikely production powerhouse and a formidable live act whose dreamy melodies and catchy rhythms have hardly gone unnoticed.
Producing highly polished gems of fantasy pop, Fenech-Soler are unlikely purveyors of crowd trembling electro-funk. Already receiving accolades from the best of the best, including Alan Braxe who approached the band to release their debut single “Cult of Romance” on his very own Vulture Label in June, November saw the Kings Cliffe quartet release “Lies” on Moda Music in the UK – a dynamic dance hit with crushing bass and synth lines that won them plays from luminaries such as Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Eddie Temple Morris, as well as collaborations with Alex Metric and Tom Staar for an exciting string of remixes.
And the madness doesn’t stop there – London’s very own electro-duo extraordinaire Groove Armada featured Fenech-Soler on their newest track, “Paper Romance” debuted on Zane Lowe’s BBC 1 Radio Program – synth-heavy dance anthem that will warm our way well into the Spring.
With an early Summer release on the horizon, keep your ear to the ground for these boys – they’re certainly ones to watch for 2010.
