World renowned power trio HIGH ON FIRE will tour Europe this May with Hall of Fame metal band METALLICA. HIGH ON FIRE has been hand-picked by the legendary group to support it on a number of just announced live dates set to launch on May 11 in Belfast, Ireland.

HIGH ON FIRE and METALLICA will pair up for a slew of concerts over an almost two week span including live performances in Hungary, Croatia, Portugal, Israel and France.

“High on Fire is ecstatic to join Metallica on its upcoming tour,” said the band in a statement. “We are honored to be chosen by James, Lars, Kirk and Robert and look forward to introducing their loyal crowds to our brand of heaviness.”

The announcement of the tour dates with Metallica comes hot on the heels of the launch of the band’s U.S. headlining tour, which kicked off Wednesday evening in Minneapolis, MN. Presented by Decibel and Stereogum, the massive trek includes support from Priestess, Black Cobra and more (the tour’s official admat can be viewed at this location). Referred to as “one the best live bands you will ever see” by the Chicago Tribune, HIGH ON FIRE will headline Chicago’s Lincoln Hall this evening and will play NYC’s Gramercy Theater on April 9.

HIGH ON FIRE is on the road in support of its critically lauded new album, Snakes for the Divine which landed at #62 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart in its first week of release. The band’s debut release for E1 Music, and fifth full length album overall, Snakes for the Divine also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Hard Music Core Stores Chart. The band’s new music video – for the electric track “Frost Hammer” — can be viewed now at this location courtesy of Pitchfork.

HIGH ON FIRE features guitarist / vocalist Matt Pike, drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz.

“For more than 10 years High on Fire has been a perfect underdog, touring regularly in support slots with more popular bands and often leaving the stronger impression…a beautiful, untamable kind of band” – THE NEW YORK TIMES

“Oakland’s (and possibly Earth’s) heaviest band, High on Fire, is ready for its close-up.” – SF WEEKLY

“These Bay Area lifers have so fully internalized metal’s sweep that the genre’s catalog could go up in flames, and as long as the transcendentally intense “Snakes” survived, we’d be able to reverse-engineer the music’s history.” – SPIN

“music heavy enough to unbalance the Earth’s rotation…Pike is one of the best guitarists you will ever hear, in a musical world that seems to have transferred the guitar from foundation to prop…It’s all another part of the thing, like High on Fire being one the best live bands you will ever see.” – CHICAGO TRIBUNE

“High on Fire are the sort of band who put devils or skulls or snake-demon ladies on their album covers just because those things are awesome, not because they illustrate any larger cultural point. And five albums in, they’re very, very good at generating awesome on demand. “Snakes for the Divine” shows that metal, in its most basic and elemental forms, still has plenty of visceral thrill left in it– as long as it’s done right. And High on Fire do it right.” – PITCHFORK

“a band that eats Motorhead, drinks Sabbath, and bleeds Slayer, and Snakes for the Divine proves that they are at the absolute pinnacle of their game. High on Fire’s latest is divine” – SAN FRANCISCO BAY GUARDIAN

“High on Fire are the new Mötörhead. The trio never falter” – ALTERNATIVE PRESS

“one of a kind” – DECIBEL

“High on Fire’s fifth studio album, Snakes for the Divine, shows the metal trio only improving with age. Snakes for the Divine is the sound of a band at the top of its game” – THE EAST BAY EXPRESS

“majestic…monolithic-sounding…on the cusp of attracting a much larger audience than ever before.” – POPMATTERS

“And now, at last the public is starting to take notice. The record hit #62 on the ‘Billboard’ album chart, more than doubling same week sales for ‘Death is This Communion,’ and, like a large rock rolling slowly down a gradual incline, the momentum started to carry High on Fire forward to bigger and brighter things.” – MTV NEWS
