Grammy Award winning British Singer, songwriter, studio whizz, Imogen Heap announced today her second US tour in support of her third solo album, Ellipse. This marks the 6th leg of her “Ellipse World Tour” which has already taken North America, United Kingdom, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and Asia by storm. Beginning in Detroit, MI on May 22, Heap will crisscross the country for 4 weeks ending in Saratoga. CA on JUne 18th.

Heap released the critically acclaimed Ellipse (RCA Records) in late August 2009 and won the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non Classical. The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Internet Album Chart and #2 on the Digital Album chart. The release is Heap’s first Top 5 record and marks her highest-ever chart position.

Throughout the course of her “Ellipse” tour, Heap has been encouraging her fans to participate in her live show. In each city she has been using Twitter to help find and audition local musicians to join her on stage. With this new leg of the tour, Heap intends to incorporate more fan interaction. ImogenHeap.com hosts the details on how fans can help Heap decide on her setlist, design merchandise, and audition for a chance to perform on stage with her.

Heap began writing the 13 tracks featured on Ellipse the same day she finished her tour for Speak For Yourself, her breakthrough 2005 album. The songs on Ellipse began to take shape on the road as Heap traveled from Hawaii, Fiji, Tasmania, Japan, China and Thailand. The artist then returned home to London, where she continued work on the record. Remaining true to her do-it-yourself ethos, she built her new studio in the “playroom” of her old family home (an 18th century ‘oval villa’ restored by her parents) on the outskirts of London.
